This is what you’ll learn in this course

The theory and practical research for the development and application of high temperature glazes. Workshop help by ceramicist Purificación Rodriguez.

All glazes are suitable to be used in functional ware.

Program

  • Hygiene and safety.
  • Basic theory of clays and glazes.
  • Oxides and pigments.
  • how to work with formulas and make your own bitacora notebook
  • Preparation/mixing of test glazes with oxides and pigments.
  • Analysis of the fired samples
  • Defects and countermeasures.
  • Theory of the firing process, temperature curves, how to load a kiln.
  • Glaze application techniques such as dipping, spraying, pouring and brushing.

We advise you to bring a notebook / pen for notes. You’ll receive detailed documentation on the subject.

No previous experience needed!

Dates: May 31st, June 1st and 2nd, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm.

This workshop will be held in Spanish. If you’d like to join an English group, please let us know it and we let you know the possible dates.

THIS COURSE INCLUDES:

For better personal tutoring we admit max. 6 students per class. The courses will take place with a minimum of 4 students. For groups of 4 or more students we can arrange special dates/schedules and programs.
