Workshop: Sculptural Ceramics – Building Organic Forms

Let’s move from functional ware to sculpture. Without fear; without experience 🙂

This workshop is the first module in a new series dedicated to the art of sculpting with clay. Designed for both curious beginners and experienced makers, it offers a solid foundation in hand-building techniques, with a special focus on the expressive possibilities of the coiling method.

Over the course of four guided sessions (3 hours each), you’ll learn how to create a sculpture with organic shape and presence, from concept to completion. Working with chamotte stoneware clay—in the color of your choice—you’ll explore form, structure, and surface in a deeply hands-on and creative way.

What you’ll learn and do:

🔹 Master the coiling technique to build a strong and expressive structure
🔹 Shape your own organic form, playing with volume, balance, and proportion
🔹 Refine your surface through smoothing, texturing, and carving
🔹 Receive individual guidance tailored to your ideas—whether you’re working from a clear plan or letting your piece evolve intuitively

This course is more than a technical introduction—it’s an invitation to discover your own sculptural language. Each sculpture will be unique, shaped by your hands, vision, and creative instincts.

You’ll be supported step by step, with close attention to both the craft and the expression of your piece. By the end, you’ll have a finished sculpture you built and refined yourself—along with the skills and confidence to keep exploring the world of sculptural ceramics on your own.

Guided by the ceramicist Elodie Yun-Luey (this workshop is held in Spanish, English or French).

No previous experience needed!

Price: 195€ / all included

The student shall bring:

• Notebook for sketches, pencil and eraser.
