Porcelain has memory.
And few things make it feel more alive than a flower.
Flowers have long been one of the most iconic symbols in the history of porcelain.
From Meissen to Capodimonte, major European porcelain manufacturers used flowers not simply as decoration, but as demonstrations of technical mastery: lightness, detail, movement and fragility.
In this 8-hour intensive workshop, you will learn how to build sculptural porcelain flowers, exploring how to create volume, delicacy and movement through petals, stems and repetition.
Throughout the course, you will create a small floral arrangement and a larger flower piece, applying different handbuilding techniques.
The workshop is taught by Sophia Guilera, an internationally recognized ceramic artist known for her sculptural porcelain work and participation in contemporary ceramic exhibitions and workshops.
The course will finish with preparation of the pieces for firing, including tips and techniques for firing delicate porcelain work.
