Sculptural Ceramic Vases – form, volume and presence
In this workshop you will design and build your own sculptural ceramic vase, a large-format piece that combines functionality with artistic presence.
You will create a vase of up to 40 cm in height, exploring organic forms that grow progressively through gesture and volume.
Using the coil building technique, you will learn how to build height in a controlled way while developing a form with its own character.
Throughout the process we will explore:
🔶 proportions
🔶 structural balance
🔶 sculptural presence
The goal is to create not just a container, but an object with identity and strong visual presence.
We will work through the entire process:
🔶 initial design
🔶 structural planning
🔶 volume construction
🔶 final finishing details
Why take this workshop?
Creating large ceramic pieces requires understanding the relationship between structure, volume and drying time.
This workshop will guide you through the process and give you the technical tools needed to create more ambitious and sculptural ceramic works.
Beyond the technical learning, you will experience a creative process where gesture, clay and rhythm combine to shape a unique object.
By the end of the workshop you will have created your own sculptural ceramic vase from scratch.
No previous experience is required.
