workshop: Microwave Raku – process made simple
175,00€
June: Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st
Can you imagine transforming fire into art… in just minutes? discover a fascinating, fast, and spectacular technique: Microwave Raku.
Raku is a traditional Japanese technique based on reducing oxygen during firing, which causes unexpected transformations on the surface of the pieces: metallic effects, iridescence and unique color changes.
Traditionally, Raku requires a gas kiln.
In this workshop, you will discover a surprising alternative: microwave raku.
We will work using a muffle inside a microwave, reproducing the same reduction process as traditional raku, but applied to small-scale pieces.
During this two-day intensive workshop, guided by ceramic artist Montse Llanas, you will explore Raku from a contemporary, accessible and experimental perspective. You will create your own pieces, prepare glazes and experience the full firing process, observing in real time how heat transforms the material.
No previous experience is required.
