You can join at any time of the month. No previous experience needed. Beginner or advanced, each will follow an individually designed path thanks to personal tutoring.
Finished and fired items can be taken home.
Beginners learn the basic techniques:
Kneading, centering, throwing, turning, finishing, burnishing
Decoration, slip and glaze application
Making cylinders, bowls, jugs, cups, handles
Advanced can improve their techniques:
Large vessels
Large vessels in sections
Narrow-necked bottles

Assembling a teapot

Composite and altering thrown forms

Hand building allows you to develop the sensitivity for constructing any clay piece.

The idea of the course is to give you a first introduction into the basic techniques for making ceramic objects. Learning, experimenting and combining various techniques, developing and enlarging your creativity.
Program:
Monday and Tuesday: hand build techniques
Coiling, pinching and slab building
Combining building techniques
Wednesday and Thursday: introduction to wheel throwing
Basic techniques: Kneading, centering, throwing, turning
Making cylinders, bowls, jugs, cups, etc.
Friday: decoration. We will embellish all pieces produced during the week
Finishing and texturing: piercing, sgraffito, burnishing
Slip and oxides application
A choice of your best finished items will be fired, glazed and can be taken home. We will inform you when to pick them up. When abroad, shipping can be arranged (shipping costs apply).

Martin Loew, Degree in engineering by ETH University of Zurich (Switzerland). He worked for many years in international business environments, also as managing Director of various international companies.
After studying pottery with several Swiss ceramists he opened his first studio "Le Pot" in Lausanne - Switzerland, where he gave wheel throwing classes until 2006.
Martin has participated in various craft fairs in Switzerland; Exhibit unique pieces in JayKay Art Gallery, in Carrouge - Switzerland, from 2001 to 2004. He moved to Barcelona in 2006 and has now opened the international Pottery School and Atelier "ElTornBarcelona". Courses for improvement in Girona.

Paula Rodriguez, Spanish-Brazilian, degree in Informatics by FIEO - Faculty of Sao Paulo (Brazil).
Gave hand building classes in "Le Pot" studio from 2002 to 2005. Paula exhibited ceramic jewellery at JayKay Art Gallery in Carrouge (Switzerland) from 2001 to 2004.
She has studied jewellery in Girona and Barcelona since 2006.

Teaches ceramics in various schools in Barcelona and joined ElTornBarcelona in January 07. Languages: Spanish, Catalan, English.

As the courses take place in the morning, you are free to have your lunch in restaurants nearby or in the city. You can buy freshly prepared delicious Spanish food in several places of the area or make your shopping in the market, food stores or shopping centre.
