Electroforming: merging Porcelain and Metals – with Luca Tripaldi
575,00€
All levels: October, Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th
How many times have you thought,“my pieces are beautiful… but something’s missing”? This “something” is called Electroforming
This is not ceramics.
And it is not jewelry either.
It is the exact point where both materials stop behaving as you expect.
Electroforming is a process that allows you to coat parts of a piece with metal, as if you were “painting” your piece with metal — but instead of a brush, we use electricity. We will use copper.
We work with high-temperature clay: stoneware or porcelain.
This is not a finish.
It’s a transformation of the object.
In this 3-day intensive workshop, you will learn this technique from the ground up: you will create your own porcelain pieces and transform them through a copper electroforming process.
The result is not only aesthetic.
It is a piece that exists in a different place —between ceramics, jewelry and sculpture.
You will work in small format, understanding each stage of the process so you can later integrate it into your own practice.
No previous experience is required.
But curiosity to take your work to another level is essential.
Meet the instructor
Taught by Luca Tripaldi, an Italian artist born in Turin, where he currently lives and works. He spent a decade as a sculptor in the Mario Audello studio, collaborating on the creation of masks and special effects for prestigious theatres such as La Scala in Milan and the Arena di Verona.
His work ranges from sculpture to contemporary jewelry, combining traditional techniques with avant-garde approaches. Since 2011, he has incorporated electroforming into his practice.
Luca teaches workshops across Europe and the United States, and exclusively in Spain here at Eltorn. We are delighted to welcome him back to our space.

Why you should take this workshop
Electroforming is not just another technique.
It is a way to move beyond what you already know.
Many ceramicists reach a point where they master form… but their work still operates within a familiar language. Electroforming breaks that.
This is not just about learning a process. It is about opening a new direction in your work:
✅ You will incorporate a technique mastered by very few ceramicists in Europe
Your pieces will immediately gain a distinctive value.
✅ You will achieve effects impossible with traditional glazes
Visual, tactile, unique. Metal organically fused with ceramics.
✅ You will add a contemporary and professional edge to your artistic language
This is not “adding decoration”. It is elevating your work to another conceptual level.
Who this workshop is for
🔶 Ceramicists who want to innovate in their work
🔶 People interested in contemporary jewelry
🔶 Artists looking to develop a distinctive visual language
🔶 People who want to learn a unique technique in Europe
🔶 Beginners who want to explore new techniques
What you will learn in this course
✅ Create rings and small jewelry pieces for electroforming
✅ Prepare surfaces for the electrical process
✅ Apply copper coating using electricity
✅ Understand the full electroforming process
✅ Create patinas (green-blue and black) on copper
We will provide you with a list of specific suppliers so you can easily source everything you need to continue experimenting with this practice. It does not require large investments in materials or space — you can set it up in just 50 cm! It also produces no toxic fumes, so you can safely install it in your workspace.
You will complete the full process: from ceramic piece to finished jewelry.
This workshop will be taught in English and Spanish.
