Finally, are you going to give it a try? Feb 2nd to 27th
We offer you a complete ceramic course with everything you need to be autonomous and start your pottery adventure!
Discover ceramics from every angle: in just one month, we take you from beginner to intermediate, combining practice, creativity, and professional techniques. You’ll learn to master the wheel, from basic forms to more complex pieces with lids or narrow necks; explore handbuilding with slabs and coils to create unique, functional pieces; and dive into the world of decoration by applying image transfers to give your work a personal touch. You’ll also be guided in high-temperature glaze research and development, and in its application, so that each piece you make reflects your style and enables you to keep creating independently.
You’ll learn centering (essential for mastering the wheel) and how to throw the main forms: cylinders (the base of all wheel-thrown shapes), bowls, cups, and lidded pieces.
We will fire a selection of your 6 best pieces (chosen by you). All pieces will be utilitarian and safe for daily use (we use no toxic materials).
We enter the world of decoration: you will learn different image-transfer techniques on ceramics. With ceramist Montse Llanas.
We continue the work started in module I.
You’ll now work with more clay and learn how to make closed forms. You will choose one piece from this module for final firing.
You will work with the two essential handbuilding techniques: slab construction and coil building. With these methods you can create almost any ceramic piece.
In this module we will teach you how to shape and manage slabs, and how to build stable, symmetrical walls using coils.
We will create a breakfast set (cup, plate, and bowl) and a jug.
A fascinating module designed to teach you how to formulate and modify industrial glazes, as well as a clear method for continuing your own research and developing your personal glaze notebook.
You will glaze your selected pieces from the wheel-throwing workshops (modules I and II) and from the handbuilding workshop.
If you wish to fire any pieces made during your practice time, we will calculate the corresponding cost.
