Decoration: image transfer techniques onto clay

In this workshop the artist and ceramicist Montse Llanas will teach you various decoration techniques based on image transfers to a ceramic body.

This workshop is held in Spanish only.

Program:

• Explanation and demonstration of image transfer from photocopies
  • making supports to apply photocopies
  • development and practice of transfers through direct photocopies on greenware pieces
  • development and practice of digital printing transfers (using printer and iron oxide from the tonner as transfer medium) on leather-hard pieces
• Digital decals
  • practice and application of the technique on glazed pieces or tiles
• Explanation and demonstration of the different photoceramic techniques with “goma bicromata”
  • information on the toxicity of the materials used and how to handle them
  • learn how to work the photoceramic technique with frames
  • learn how to work the photoceramic technique with natural and artificial lights
• Manual decals
  • making and applying manual decals
• Engraving technique
  • application of the technique on leather-hard stoneware slabs

Analysis, conclusions, question forum

Student should bring:

• 2 soft, flat, medium-sized brushes
• 1 soft, medium-sized, round-tipped brush
• Black and white laser photocopies of texts and/or images with high contrast, in mirror and negative, in A4 size and on 80g paper as a minimum. You can include several images per page.
• negative images, printed on acetate paper, highly contrasted from white to black (admit grays in between)
• flat, transparent glass, to put over images
• 1 ceramic piece (mug or small bowl)
• notebook and pencil for notes

No previous experience is necessary!

Course price: 305€/all included.

Dates: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

Your pieces will be baked and glazed by our team and in 1 month after the course they will be ready to be collected. If you do not live in Barcelona, ​​we will send you the parts by mail (postage due, prepaid).
